Summer Seafood Recipes Made SimpleIn this week’s blog, you’ll discover simple seafood recipes that are mouth-watering & loaded with omega-3!

Consuming omega-3 fats may be one of the simplest and most important things you can do for your health; especially the omega-3s found in fish and fish oil supplements known as EPA & DHA.  Perhaps no other natural bioactive nutrient promotes good health in so many ways.  Omega-3s are good for your heart, brain, vision, joints, skin & mood.

Here are 4 deliciously simple seafood recipes to help you get more omega-3 this summer…

Simple Seafood RecipesSimply Savory Salmon

Salmon has one of the highest omega-3 levels of any fish, and an excellent ratio of omega-3 vs. omega-6. Its “meaty” texture is great because it’s filling as well!

For a simple summer recipe, try preparing it grilled, baked with olive oil and balsamic vinegar, or broiled with a squeeze of fresh lemon juice.

Each of these recipes is simple and ideal for summer!

Fresh Summer Shrimp

What tastes more like summer than fresh shrimp kabobs? Shrimp are a good source of omega-3, and are very versatile as a main course! Try them tossed with whole grain pasta, grilled atop fresh veggies, or mixed with a veggie filled stir-fry.

Alaskan King Crab

This simple seafood recipe is perfect for summer.  Alaskan King Crab is delicious simply steamed because of its rich and creamy texture. Skip the high fat butter dips and opt for a light garlic olive oil instead.

Although not as high in omega-3s as other options, Mahi-Mahi is a great low-calorie protein for your meals. Try it grilled, then chop up and toss with pico de gallo and avocado. Spoon the mix into bibb lettuce, and enjoy a fresh southern inspired lettuce wrap!

Simple Seafood Recipes for Your Anti-Inflammatory Diet

As part of the Gene Smart Anti-Inflammatory Diet Plan, we recommend consuming 1,250 – 1,500mg of the omega-3s EPA & DHA each day by eating fish and consuming a quality concentrated omega-3 fish oil supplement.  These levels will help to increase your Omega-3 Index and improve your Omega-3 vs. Omega-6 Ratio, two important measures of the omega-3 in your body.

As mentioned earlier, salmon is very high in omega-3.  Check out our Free High Omega-3 Fish List to learn which other fish have the highest levels of Omega-3.
