Gene Smart Compassion

Dr. Chilton shares his experiences with orphans in Africa.

Our Mission

At Gene Smart, we believe in Global Wellness.  We are creating new approaches to empower orphans and other vulnerable children to reach their full potential and contribute to a strong future for Africa.  Our focus is twofold.  First, we have established a new model which brings individuals and organizations in America together for the common goal of making a lasting difference in the lives of children in Africa by helping to build complete, sustainable communities.  This community-building model is Heroes Helping Heroes.  Secondly, we are pioneering a new approach to address childhood malnutrition that utilizes the latest understanding of the relationship between what we eat, our genes, and our health.  This approach utilizes the development of a therapeutic food known as Little Heroes

Dr. Chilton's Pledge

Dr. Chilton founded Gene Smart Compassion and has pledged to spend the rest of his life using the latest, most sophisticated first-world science to help alleviate the suffering of African children.  He dedicated his book The Gene Smart Diet to the orphans of Africa and has committed 10% of all royalties from its book sales to support their cause.

Little HeroesTM: A New Approach to Addressing Malnutrition

"We Nourish Little Heroes Because Children Who Are Healthy Can Grow Up to Change their World"

In many African countries, over 1/3 of the population is undernourished. Often malnutrition is caused not by lack of food, but by available food lacking critical nutrients for growth and development.  When it does not kill, chronic malnutrition impairs brain development, stunts physical growth, and prevents development of healthy immune systems which renders children susceptible to infectious diseases, malaria, HIV, and tuberculosis.  When these children grow up, they have diminished capacity to work and contribute to their communities.

We are creating a new paradigm to define and solve malnutrition among infants and children by utilizing the latest understanding of the relationship between diet, our genes and our health, including the genes that control immunity and inflammation.
